Assistant Show Chair
The Assistant Show Chair is to help the Show Chair in areas where needed,
2 –3 years in advance

Obtain a list of prospective conformation judges for future shows from the Show Chair.

Contact judges to see if they are available for a particular year. Referring to the AKC "Corresponding Date Calendar". The All breed show is on the 28th week on the AKC's calendar.

Make sure judge understands our policy about not judging in California 90 days before our Show.

If judge is available, find out their fees and any extra conditions. Also ask if they are seeking any future breeds or groups. This may help the show chair with their assignments.
Send a contract to the judge for their approval and signature. Include the list of items we will cover and any other information that seems appropriate.
Make sure to get email, cell number and person to contact in case of an emergency,

Send a copy of the contract either digitally or hard copy to the Treasurer and the Show Chair.

Obtain from the Obedience Chair: judges names, addresses and contact information.

Send reminder to judges about their agreement. At this time send more information about travel arrangements.
Send all information to the Judges Hospitality Chair, so they can follow up with hotel reservations and other important information.
AKC Liaison

For Conformation gather judges AKC #, Breeds and/or groups they will judge for preparation to use the AKC online management system

For Obedience and Rally gather from the Obedience Chair the judges AKC # and classes they will judge and any non regular classes that are being offered.

Make a hardcopy to refer to if needed. Bring to show in case the superintendent has any questions,

Learn AKC Online Management system and begin to enter the breed and classes the judges will judge.
General Duties

Be prepared to run any last minute errands.
